At Stone Mason of Spring we are committed to sharing our own special way of doing things. Committed to maintaining his own sense of wonder, Joe brings an authentic joy to the creative and building process, which is predictably infectious! Clients and their families find themselves stimulated and energized by the process, and are typically pleased to find their own creative limits and ultimately, quality of life enhanced
Joe is responsible for all phases of work and never uses subcontractors to complete his design, thus maintaining complete control throughout each project. Instead, he employs a team of reliable, trusted staff, many of whom have been with him for 15 or 20 years.
Born to Italian immigrants, Joe DiPaulo’s family tradition of masonry can be traced back over 300 years of building, beginning in Italy. He credits the influence of a close family with not only the development of his skills and work ethic, but for their having instilled an old-world sense of tradition and values that is a vanishing quality this day in age.
As a young man, Joe drew on his father’s old-world craftsmanship techniques to refurbish historical buildings in Baltimore, Maryland. He first saw Texas over twenty years ago when, while helping a friend with a building project of a few days duration, he found himself drawn by Houston and the Woodlands where he has remained with his wife, Christine, a retired teacher. Starting with The Woodlands Pool Company, and evolving through other related business endeavors, Joe’s lasting legacy is as The Stone Mason of Spring. His love of building and close personal connection with natural environments kindled with his vision and creativity has produced some of the most imaginative and spectacular works of large-scale art anyone has ever seen.
Joe has recently brought on Barbara Kierewicz as an apprentice and associate. Joe built a pool for Barbara’s family when she was just 5 years old, and their families have maintained a close friendship through the years. Upon graduating from The University of Texas in Austin with a degree in Design, Barbara immediately started working alongside Joe building, designing and selling in hopes of continuing the Stone Mason tradition.
Stone Mason of Spring employs no salesmen Instead, we set out to develop a personal relationship with each prospective client that typically not only evolves as the work progresses, but which often endures as lasting friendship.
